CREATING A SOCIAL STORY
WHAT IS IT
A social story is a book or pamphlet that describes the environment of a business or organization with illustrations and explanations for individuals with sensory challenges. This tool can help children grasp a sense of normalcy before setting foot into social situations that aren’t so normal to them. The social story is often read to the individual with sensory challenges before he or she enters into the environment (a dentist’s office, a church, a new classroom for the year, etc.). Social stories are written very specifically in hopes of placing individuals at ease before entering a new situation in a new place.
This resource will benefit you, your business, organization, family, or loved individuals needing some reassurance in new or out-of-the-ordinary environments.
