The Lord is all-knowing, all-powerful, and good. He doesn’t make mistakes. So when He choose to create your child, He had a choice. He could have picked September 19, 1603, or May 13, 2025. Yet, He chose their birthdate and…YOU as the parent/guardian.

God chose you to be their parent, and HE DOESN’T MAKE MISTAKES. In other words, with His help, you can do this. To encourage you, we have an online guided prayer for you. Check it out at:

Title: A Guided, Online Prayer for Children

Welcome to today’s online parenting class! Last class, we gave you tips on how to prepare your child for life. If you missed it, ask your Director or Minister to send it to you.

Today, we are going to do something a little different, and offer you a guided, online prayer time for your child. So rather than tell you how to go and pray, we thought we could do it with you. I will simply lead you in prayer, and you can follow as you feel led.

Six words based on Scripture. Let’s get started.

I will share the Scripture in case you want to write it down, then pray a few words over my children and then give you a few minutes of silence for you to speak out loud the prayer. Don’t fret if it isn’t the same. The goal is to offer our needs before the Lord together.

Word #1 Shepherd

Psalm 127:3 & Psalm 23:1-2 Thank you Lord for giving me ___________. You gave them to me as an inheritance, and they are a special gift. You love my children and are their Shepherd. Please comfort them as a kind Shepherd would to His sheep. Settle their souls by meeting all their needs today. Now your turn. (Pause- Silence)

Psalm 23:4 Encourage my heart that I may believe they will not fear the darkest of evils because your Comforting Presence is so real to them. As I look towards their teenage years, help me not fear, but trust and listen for Your plan to prepare. Your turn. (Pause)

Word #2 Freedom

Ephesians 3:19 Jesus, I ask that you dispatch angels to stand guard around them. Consecrate the ground they walk on with your Holiness. Silence the voices of your enemy so they may see, hear, and know your love. Open their hearts so that they can receive your love, and as they interact with other children, help them give out that love. (Pause)

John 17:15 & John 3:16 Jesus, our mission is to live in the world, not hide from it. Show our family what it means to live in this world, and love it as you do.  (Pause)

Word #3 Grace

I John 2:1-2 As they fall short of your Standard with their fleshly desires, Jesus, be their Advocate and Helper and Lawyer in the Spirit world. Thank you for appeasing any wrath and bringing reconciliation for them. (Pause)

Romans 2:4 Thank you for not condemning them but offering them kindness and mercy. Remind them of this truth when they choose to condemn themselves and when others, or I, choose to judge them. (Pause)

#4 God-Confidence

Psalm 139:15 You made this child, and they are your idea. I did nothing to bring them forth. You creatively pieced them together during the womb and never made a mistake. Open their eyes, ears, mind, and heart to uncover their God-given uniqueness. Silence the beating drum of culture and the pretense of social media so they may receive the words of encouragement from you and me.  Help them embrace the way they are made and help them to be kind to themselves, help them avoid the comparison trap, and help them be wise stewards of their gifts and talents.

#5 Character

Romans 5:2-4 Would you grow them to be people of character? Guide, nurture, and parent me so I may teach them about responsibility, limits, resilience, and grit. Help me, Father, know how to create an environment where this is fostered. Would you grant them, adults and peers, along the way who strive for these values also? May the presence of hard times and trials be a call to intimacy with you rather than shame or defeat. (Pause)

#6 Heritage (Past, Present, and Future)

Exodus 14:14 Lord, thank you for the spiritual groundwork you are laying in our family. You fight for us.  (Pause)

Exodus 20:5 If there are any spiritual strongholds we and the past generations have knowingly or unknowingly allowed in, expose them, and so it ends with us. (Pause)

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 May truth and grace be declared over the unbelief. Thank you for gifting us your powerful weapons so we can offer a spiritual inheritance to our children and their children. (Pause)

Joshua 24:15 As for me and my house, we will choose to follow you. (Pause)

Thank you for joining in with us on this special Online Parenting Class. If you think another parent would benefit from this encouragement, please share what you have learned. It has been a true honor to partner with you today.

Dear (Insert name of parent),

There are so many things about life we need to know, and it helps us when somebody equips us for the road. One way to prepare your child for the road of life is to think about your tool belt before you think about what to put in your child’s.

In less than five minutes, we discuss this and so much more!

Dear (Insert name of parent),

So much of parenting is not within our control, but what is within our control is the freedom to go out and pursue our own life tools. As adults, we don’t have to wait for someone to equip us for life, we have the personal freedom to go get it for ourselves.

So today’s step is brave yet straightforward. We can accept responsibility for taking inventory of the life tools we have. Figure out what more we want, then plan how to get it. If you want to hear more of this, click the link for a short, encouraging video.

https://vimeo.com/parentministry/review/394575322/ede4853941

Imagine your child at 35 as he/she looks at his or her children passing down what they were given. Can you imagine what it would look like if they have just a few more tools than you did?

Proverbs 3:13 states, “Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding.” Collecting life tools is finding wisdom.

We hope this tip helps you just a little bit today as a parent.

Title: How to Prepare Your Child for Life

Welcome to this month’s online parenting class! Last class, we offered you ways to grow your confidence as a parent: understanding your story, your child’s story, and how God’s story connects them all. If you missed it, ask your Director or Minister to send it to you.

Today, we offer you a way to help prepare your child for life. This mission can seem simple, but when we break down into every day, the process can feel complicated or overwhelming.

Imagine everyone, including you, has a tool belt for life. When you were young, your parents or parental figures in your life put a “tool” in your tool belt to show you how to live life.

For example:

How do you manage money?

How do you learn how to date?

How do you forgive?

How do you cook?

How do you navigate emotions?

What’s important about marriage?

What are some good study habits?
How do you change a tire on a car?

There are so many things about life we need to know, and it helps us when somebody equips us for the road. One way to prepare your child for the road of life is to think about your tool belt before you think about what to put in your child’s.

As you take a personal assessment of what is in your life tool belt, please know there is no perfect parent. EVERY ONE of us will have empty pockets. Some of us had parents who filled pocket after pocket of “life tools,” while others received very minimal. Either way, our parental figures or parents were only able to pass down what they were given, and whatever that is is not within our control.

What is within our control is the freedom to go out and pursue our own life tools. As adults, we don’t have to wait for someone to equip us for life, we have the personal freedom to go get it for ourselves.

So today’s step is brave yet straightforward. We can accept responsibility for taking inventory of the life tools we have. Figure out what more we want, then plan how to get it.

For example, let’s say you didn’t learn how to manage money. That’s okay, so many parents didn’t receive that tool. Where can you find wisdom and practical tips? Is there someone you admire who seems to manage their money wisely, not extravagantly, but wisely? Can you seek out Biblical advice from a mentor? A financial advisor? A legitimate, authorized company online?

This step requires intentionality, but it is worth it. Imagine your child at 35, looking at his or her child passing down what they were given. Can you imagine what it would look like if they have just a few more tools than you did?

Please keep it simple and start with one or two items. Because it is not possible to fill an entire tool belt, take your time evaluating. Ask the Lord for help. Once you identify a “life tool” you want, begin to look for a trusted and vetted friend, mentor, life coach, church member, teacher, website, or counselor for suggestions on where to start.

Thank you for joining this month’s Online Parenting Class. If you want more classes, please ask your Minister or Director.

In our next class, we have a unique, online, guided prayer time where we don’t just tell you “how to pray,” but we will pray with you for your child, and if you think another parent would benefit from this encouragement, please share what you have learned. And remember…start small…what is one life tool you want to add to your tool belt? Go get it! We are cheering for you Parents.

Welcome to this month’s online parenting class! Last class, we gave you two steps on how to avoid pointless parenting. If you missed it, ask your Director or Minister to send it to you. This month we are going to give you three practical tips on how to find confidence as a parent.

Do you ever find yourself thinking: How is this going to turn out? Am I the right person for this job?

There is no manual for the parenting job. No-one has parented your child before this moment. You are navigating the unexplored corners of the parenting world where no man or woman has gone before. So if it feels uncertain and risky, you are in the norm. But we believe it is possible to have confidence in the uncertainty of it all.

The parenting world operates a lot like the branches of the US government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. From a young age, students in the educational system learn about how these three branches work together to lead a democracy- three components working together for a greater purpose. The parenting world is similar– three components simultaneously working together for a higher purpose.

The first component is Our Child’s Story. Our children have their unique talents, gifts, and personality. Although we have seen the majority of what they have experienced, we cannot say we have experienced through their eyes. They have a way of experiencing the world, that of which we cannot understand fully. Only Jesus has that role.

Our role is to understand our children are in their formative years while they are under our care. They are like a building under construction in a big city. The pedestrian traffic commute to work, walking by it every day, wondering what it will look like one day. The construction manager is overseeing the vision of the architect.

We, as parents, are the construction manager, and the architect, God the Creator, gives His plans and designs for our children. We don’t know what they will become or the final product of their personality, gifts, or talents, but we can be confident as a parent, God is unfolding our child’s Story one day at a time. We must also be careful not to assume we know how they will turn out.

The second component is Our Story. We can find inspiration and hope in knowing God is revealing the Story of our children, but He is also not finished with your Story. Yes, you. Ever before you had the role of a parent, you were you.

He was the architect designing and shaping your Story- your history, personality, past, present, culture, upbringing, etc. Your Story has a significant influence on your parenting journey.

When we intentionally invest in understanding and owning our Story, we offer our children a gift of grace: confidence that regardless of where we have come from or where we’ve been, we own our “whole” story, including the moments from heroic to heartbreaking. God is not done with your Story yet. He is still unfolding one day at a time.

The third component is His Story. The beautiful architect, creator, and mastermind behind this whole parenting world is the Lord who weaves our stories into His like a seamstress gently guiding the thread with her hand. He says in Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

His Story, one of love and pursuit, brings our Story as parents and the stories of our children together. His Story connects them all.

He could have picked any parent on the planet to oversee the life of your child- and He chooses you. He doesn’t make mistakes. However you became you a parent, however, you were born into this world, however, your child was born, there was no error on His part. Because of this truth, you can be confident as a parent and a person. He is interlacing our stories with His.

Understanding the three components at play offers us the confidence we need as a parent to believe we are precisely where we are supposed to be, parenting our children in a God-made Family. You are the RIGHT PERSON for the job.

Thank you for watching this month’s Online Parenting Class. If you are interested in learning more about understanding and owning your Story, check our next class, “How to Prepare Your Student for Life.” Also, If you think another parent would benefit from this encouragement, please share what you have learned.

And remember… be confident…Believe God is unfolding your child’s Story, God is still unfolding your Story, and God’s Story brings your stories together.
